TOK PLES SCRIPTURE CONFERENCE
Unity was the word used again and again during the second Tok Ples Scripture Conference held at the SIL Ukarumpa base just outside of Kainantu township in the Eastern Highlands Province. The established mainland churches were all represented except for the Anglican delegation that did not travel in due to recent flooding in the province.
It was indeed in the spirit of unity that Catholics, United Church, Lutherans, and Pentecostals gathered to hear about the remaining task of Bible Translation in Papua New Guinea. The church leadership confirmed that translation was part of the minister’s work in the early years of Church growth in the country. This slowly changed when the Church turned indigenous. A few church leaders made their commitment to be involved in Bibles Translation during the conference.
MAF LEARNING TECHNOLOGIES PNG CONNECTING PNG CHURCH LEADERSHIP
As a Para-church organization serving the Church and missions with technical assistance and communications, we were invited by the leadership of PNG Summer Institute of Linguistics and PNG Bible Translation Association to share the ministry of Learning Technologies to the leadership of the PNG Church. We have met new contacts who have engaged us to visit and share the ministry with them. It was a God given privilege for us to attend and share about what God is doing and preparing LTPNG to assist SIL and BTA to empower the Church for her work in this time and age in the context of Bible translation. We desire to be seen as assisting the Church to teach from the published mother tongue Scriptures and at the same time assisting Bible translation organizations to package and deliver the Scriptures in audio format for our oral societies.
