“Thank you so much for the audio bible, we will listen to God’s word while sewing and cooking” This was expressed by the women’s leader as she received the donated Envoy unit from the LT team that was invited to witness the blessing of the resource center.
Last week one of these trays ended up at the CRMF’s tea room for the afternoon break. Where it came from, you might ask? Well, to answer the question of the origin of the carrot cake, we need to deal with the question of how and why a carrot cake tray would end up at CRMF. Nothing is free these days and so to have a free carrot cake must have a story behind it.
A month ago the CRMF outreach team showed the Tok Pisin Jesus video at a Catholic Church yard at Lopi, here at Goroka. This was the second outreach for this year and we look forward to showing at more venues as the Lord brings us places to do outreach.
Three weeks ago those who saw the video Jesus video requested for another viewing. Second time round “End of the Spear” was shown to encourage the ladies who make up the majority of the church at Lopi. The ladies loved this video as it showed how the wives of the murdered missionary men went to live with very clan that killed their husbands. The video taught them that forgiveness was such a powerful force to help bring the heathen to the saving grace of God.
Last week, we were invited again to witness the opening of a resources center where the ladies gather together to sew clothes and do cooking to raise funds for the church. Part of the sales goes to their individual lively hood.
The picture on the left shows part of the women’s group who will hear the Word as they cook and sew. The resource center houses sewing machines and cooking stoves which were all donated by different individuals and organizations. Even the skills of maintaining the sewing machines, patterns for clothes and various recipes for cooking is all freely given by the ladies within the group.
We thank the Lord for another opportunity to place an audio bible amongst the patterns and recipes for the Holy Spirit to do its work. That is how and why the carrot cake ended up at CRMF base, all enjoyed it.
We came away from the function feeling blessed to share the cake with the rest of the CRMF staff at the office. On a much larger joyous scale we are glad that an audio bible has found a home in the resource center.
Our prayer is that the audio Bible will make an impact in the lives of those who hear the Word as they cook and sew.
